Jakarta, 26 August 2025 – In response to challenges and opportunities within the current business climate, the Indonesian Business Council (IBC) will host the Indonesia Economic Summit (IES) 2026 on 3-4 February 2026 at the Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, under the theme “Coming Together to Boost Resilient Growth and Shared Prosperity.” This annual strategic forum is designed to bring together government representatives, policymakers, business and industry leaders, academics, as well as global experts and thought leaders to foster strategic collaboration and outline concrete steps toward building a more inclusive national economy.
“IES 2026 unites government, business leaders, and global experts to drive inclusive growth and enhance Indonesia’s competitiveness. This forum is designed to serve as a platform for Indonesian business leaders to provide input in policy refinement and to support the realization of good economic governance” said Arsjad Rasjid, Chair of The Board of Trustees.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO), IBC, Sofyan Djalil, conveyed that the strength of IES 2026 lies in the integration of ideas and concrete action. Each session is designed to deliver practical solutions through cross-sector task forces, the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), and project matchmaking. By engaging government, business leaders, and global experts, the forum presents a strategic agenda that can be directly implemented to generate tangible impact for Indonesia’s economy and society.
“The sessions at IES are dedicated to producing concrete solutions, with an emphasis on inclusive and strategic economic growth, thereby strengthening Indonesia’s position amid global uncertainty. The business sector requires legal certainty and consistent regulations; in addition, policy harmonization across ministries and stronger public-private partnerships are key to attracting investment,” added Sofyan.
IES 2026 will address strategic issues such as industrialization and quality investment as drivers of growth, talent development and real adoption of AI, energy transition and carbon markets, as well as export diversification and supply chain resilience. “As a nation with significant economic potential, Indonesia must strengthen its competitiveness at the global level. IES 2026 will serve as a platform to ensure that inclusive economic growth can be realized, while also reinforcing Indonesia’s position in the regional and global arena,” added Arsjad.
In addition, the “IBC in Action” program will showcase tangible outcomes of IBC’s studies, including waste management, the improvement of migrant workers’ welfare, and other strategic development initiatives. These initiatives highlight the active role of the private sector in supporting national development, working hand in hand with the government and society to create solutions that are inclusive, sustainable, and impactful.
“With all these initiatives, we hope that IES 2026 will serve as a credible platform for the government and the business community to formulate strategic agendas, create concrete solutions, build a sustainable ecosystem, and strengthen the foundation of the national economy so that Indonesia can compete effectively at the regional and global levels through ongoing monitoring mechanisms and knowledge sharing,” concluded Arsjad.
